Who is responsible for your information
Best Fishing Scotland is the controller of personal information collected through this website. Questions about privacy or requests concerning your information can be sent to bill@bestfishingscotland.co.uk or made by telephone on +44 (0)7896 741193.
Information we collect
When you contact Best Fishing Scotland, we may collect your name, email address, telephone number, nationality, party size, preferred travel dates, likely accommodation area, fishing interests, experience and any other information you choose to provide. Please do not submit medical diagnoses or other unnecessary sensitive information through a website form. We record marketing consent only when you actively select the optional marketing choice.
How we use your information
We use enquiry details to respond to you, recommend suitable guided fishing, confirm availability and make arrangements you request. If you separately opt in to updates, we may also send occasional fishing news and trip information.
Our lawful bases
We process contact and booking-enquiry details because this is necessary to take steps at your request before entering into a contract and, where relevant, to perform an agreed booking. We use consent as the lawful basis for optional marketing emails. Marketing consent is separate, is never required to make an enquiry and can be withdrawn at any time.
Service providers and retention
Website enquiries are transmitted using Web3Forms and delivered to Best Fishing Scotland by email. Web3Forms operates servers in the United States and states that form submissions and server logs may be retained for periods that depend on the service plan and processing purpose. Information may therefore be processed outside the United Kingdom. Best Fishing Scotland must keep its provider terms and international-transfer safeguards under review.
Best Fishing Scotland retains enquiry information only while it is reasonably needed to respond, plan a possible trip and maintain an appropriate record of the conversation. If an enquiry becomes a booking, relevant correspondence and transaction records may be retained for longer where required for contractual, insurance, tax or legal purposes. Optional marketing records are kept until consent is withdrawn or the marketing list is no longer used.
Marketing choices
Submitting a contact or booking enquiry does not add you to a marketing list. Where an optional marketing checkbox is offered, it is unticked by default. If you opt in, the submitted form records the wording and privacy-notice version presented at that time. You can withdraw consent using the unsubscribe method in a marketing message or by contacting Best Fishing Scotland.
Cookies and website measurement
This website uses a strictly necessary first-party cookie named bfs_consent to remember your privacy choices for up to 180 days. It records the consent version, your selected categories and the date of your choice. It is not used to identify you or measure your browsing.
Analytics and marketing technologies are switched off unless you actively consent. Google Analytics 4 and advertising technology are not currently configured. If either is introduced, this notice will be updated with the provider, purpose, information collected and retention period before that technology is enabled.
You can review or withdraw consent at any time using the Privacy choices button displayed on the website. Withdrawing consent stops future optional collection; you may also remove previously stored cookies through your browser settings.
Your choices and rights
You can ask us to provide, correct or delete your personal information, object to or restrict its use, or withdraw marketing consent. You may also complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office.
