Start With Your Dates, Not a Fixed Package

Scottish fishing varies by river, season, water level and availability. Tell Bill when you are travelling, where you are staying and what you hope to catch. He will recommend realistic options rather than asking you to choose a beat or guide alone.

A proposal can cover a single private day or a wider itinerary, with the agreed fishing, guide, equipment, permits and price confirmed in writing.

What Can Be Included

One Enquiry. A Carefully Arranged Fishing Day.

Useful Before You Book

Understanding Guided Fishing in Scotland

Fishing rights, seasons and permits are local. Bill checks what applies to the proposed water before any trip is confirmed.

Access and permits

Scotland has no single national rod licence for ordinary recreational fishing, but permission or the appropriate permit is still required for the chosen water.

Rivers and locations

Trips may be arranged across Scotland, including the Tweed, Tay, Spey, Dee, Annan, Deveron and Don, subject to dates and conditions.

Seasons and conditions

Species seasons and close times vary by district. Water levels and weather also influence which options are sensible for a particular date.

Private fishing

Many guided days use private estates, beats or fisheries with restricted angler numbers. Exclusive use may sometimes be possible.

Common Planning Questions

Guided Fishing Trip FAQs

What does a guided fishing day usually include?

Your written proposal can include an experienced guide, suitable fishing water, access or permits, rods, reels, lines, flies, waders and boots. Exact inclusions vary and are confirmed before booking.

Do I need previous fly fishing experience?

No. Complete beginners are welcome, and the guide can adapt tuition, pace and choice of water to your confidence. Experienced anglers can receive more advanced local and technical guidance.

Can you arrange several days or different species?

Yes. Multi-day plans can combine rivers, lochs, species and guides where availability allows, with practical travel and accommodation advice.

How far ahead should I enquire?

Early enquiries provide the widest choice, particularly for salmon fishing and popular dates. Short-notice enquiries are still welcome and Bill will explain any realistic options.
